Most women walk in with the same questions. Will I be paired with someone twice my size? Do I need to be fit first? Will I know what I’m doing?
This class answers them. It is a women-only room with the same philosophy we coach every class with: technical Jiu-Jitsu built on how well you move. Jiu-Jitsu runs on leverage, position, and timing, not size, which is what makes it work for smaller people.
Brian Yi is a 3rd-degree black belt under coral belt Marcelo Alonso, in the Carlson Gracie lineage, with more than 20 years of Jiu-Jitsu. He is also a Certified Athletic Development Specialist, which shapes how every class is built.
Brian teaches the women’s class with a female assistant coach on the mat.
Prefer evenings? Women are welcome in our Teens & Adults class, Monday–Friday at 7:30 PM. Have kids? See the kids program →
Is this class women only?
Yes. Everyone on the mat in this class is a woman. Coach Brian teaches it with a female assistant coach.
I have never trained. Is that okay?
Yes. Most women start with no experience. Beginners and experienced students train in the same class, each coached at their level.
Do I need to be in shape to start?
No. Training is how you get there, and the work is scaled to where you are.
Will I get hurt?
Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport, so no one can promise zero risk. What we control: technique before intensity, supervised live rounds, and partners who train with care.
Can I also train in the evening?
Yes. Women are welcome in our Teens & Adults class, Monday through Friday at 7:30 PM.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Memberships are month-to-month.
